Designed Art™

Designed Art™ is customized photographic art done jointly with you as part of the design process. The photographic artwork is envisioned, detailed, and then created using large format, museum grade, fine art materials with dramatic and unique framing such as highly textured fine art rag paper on dry mount with a no-glass frame, or fine art stretched canvas with a float frame.

Fine art post-production work

Post-production work is everything needed to take an existing digital image and in consideration of the artistic intent and destined media adjust factors including color, luminosity, sharpness, emphasis, and de-emphasis, and then print a fine art product that has the desired physical and emotional correctness.

The distinction of "Fine Art" indicates the final work will be long-lasting, has high intrinsic or explicit value, and therefore is constructed using materials specifically designed, manufactured, and tested for photographic artwork or artwork reproduction.   Such materials have been tested and certified, usually by Wilhelm Imaging Research, are usually heavy weight, uniquely textured, and are able to display a high range of colors and a high range of tone.

CHANNEL B STUDIO only uses museum and archival grade materials and coatings that are OBA, acid, and lignin free while maintaining extreme color accuracy, black density, and color gamut.   We work directly with the manufacturers of our selected fine art materials for on-going collaboration and experimentation of new approaches.

From Home to Art™ • Commissioned Books

Our lives revolve around our homes.  The nuances and details, changing light, shapes, angles, and colors frame the feel of your home.  The clocks, lamps, stairways, hallways, kitchen cabinets are just things, but they also show the signs of our lives.   A From Home To Art™ commissioned book captures this in unique ways and many times images appear as puzzles but then become the overly obvious.   Creating a book consists of multiple professional phototography sessions at different times of day and night and then creative and technical work to create your From Home To Art™ book.  Consider it an artistic time capsule.

Photographic Fine Art and Large Format Printing

Digital photography is interdependent on the post-production and digital fine art printing processes that ensue.   Capturing the image with a Nikon D3 or a Canon (if you must) is the first step.   Achieving the artistic and technical final product means the many elements to include the subject, colors, contrast, and luminosity in combination with the selected medium work together.  And today there are fine art materials that add a 4th dimension that either complements or gets in the way.  This process is altered quite significantly when large formats are needed and again the links from the camera to the post-production work and final fine art printing are adjusted with a well defined process to give us what we want.

*CHANNEL B STUDIO only uses museum and archival grade materials and coatings that are OBA, acid, and lignin free while maintaining extreme color accuracy, black density, and color gamut. We work extensively with Hahnemühle© Digital Fine Art and Breathing Color© in our workflow.

Special Events

We can cover a very few number of special events and do reserve a limited number of engagements throughout the year.  In most cases we will refer you to a photographic artist that we work with on a regular basis to cover your event and will work with that photographer to complete all post-production work.   By only covering a limited number of events as part of our business we find we can maintain the level of creative energy and involvement that you deserve.
